I like to mentor because it is so valuable. The way I look at it is that it can save you time, money and a lot of headaches that come from making mistakes in life or career because of a lack of experience. When I start my first mentoring session, I always ask, “What are your dreams? What do you want to do with your life?” Many times, people don’t know what they want to do. Or, they have pushed their dreams so deep that it takes them a while to retrieve it. Yet, after a few meetings, it is hard for them to stop dreaming and believing that they can do anything they set their minds to do!

Today, I want to start with your identity. That is the first step. Who are you?  Do you like yourself? Do you believe in yourself? Are you proud of yourself and your accomplishments?  These are questions that help to stir you up and start you dreaming again for yourself and your future. I have learned that knowing who you are is the key that unlocks the door for your future. I always say, “You must be an expert at being you.” If you don’t really know why you act the way you act, then you do not really understand your motivations and can’t move forward in life.

Get this identity issue resolved within yourself. Find out who you are and then be proud of who God made you. Once you take a long look at who you are and accept yourself, your joy will return and you will understand your purpose more clearly.  Stop trying to be perfect at everything because that will cause you to get out of your zone. You are designed to fit in a particular role and to excel in it. Once you understand how you process life, you will know how to take advantage of your strengths and improve on your weaknesses.

To start this process of understanding who you are, I want you to take 10 minutes to take th is free personality test, available at: https://www.tonyrobbins.com/disc/. After you get your results, take time to study them and look for blind spots that might be showing up. When I took this test, it unlocked so many things inside of me. The more I understood myself, the more I understood how to go after my dreams, and I pray and hope it does the same for you.

Make this year the best ever!
